I see there's an option to remember Recurse, but can we have an option in the browser to always recurse, it would be most useful.

I've been using VDJ since 2008 and have absolutely no idea what recurse even does......

Show all files even those in subfolders.

It's only useful if you use folders (that contain numerous sub folders).

It would actually be very DANGEROUS and that's why it's not a thing (at least for now)
At some point there was a consideration for adding such option, but imagine clicking by mistake the root of a mechanical 8TB external drive that contains hundreds of thousands of files..
VirtualDJ would be fine, but the operation could slow down the system significantly since recurse would also search ALL the subfolders underneath the root for new files.
Recurse is NOT a purely database driven operation. So, recursing should be used with caution, especially on big libraries with 100's of directories. But also that's when/where recurse is useful the most.
I am not an advocate for such an option just because "sh*t happens" no matter how careful you are.
But I'm not the one calling the cards, so don't mind my own personal opinion..

Could there be a compromise - e.g. add the option only for Virtual Folders, and optionally put a limit on how many folders the software would recurse into before stopping (with a reasonable default)?
I agree that filesystem use and even virtual folder use could potentially "blow up" regardless.
