Hi everyone,
I’ve only recently started DJing. I began with an entry-level Hercules controller and DJUCED, then fairly quickly moved on to a DDJ-800 and VirtualDJ. I also tried rekordbox, but I’ll just say that I don’t really understand why it gets so much praise, or why the market leader bundles software like that with its controllers. Anyway, moving on.
VirtualDJ wasn’t especially easy for me during my first few weeks either. The thing is, it doesn’t get everything right, but it does let me make things work exactly the way I want. For me, that comes down to two things: scripts and skins.
After about four weeks, I feel almost as if I’ve built my very own DJ software, because nearly everything now works the way I want it to - and I love it. There’s one thing I still haven’t been able to solve, but I’ve already posted about it in the feature requests forum.
So here’s my question: Would anyone be interested in hearing about some of the things I’ve figured out? For example, how to make the Play/Pause LED on a Pioneer controller blink while using a gated Hot Cue, instead of staying lit, or how to use the browser knob to zoom the waveform?
I’d also be happy to show or explain my custom Performance skin, if that’s something people here would find useful. After all, it’s just my personal taste.

The power of VirtualDJ comes in it's ability to be customized as the user wants, vs forcing the users to act how the software dictates.
What you found, most likely has been discovered already by several other users as well.
I don't say that as a bad thing. I'm just saying that users usually ask "how do I do this" and we (the community) respond and show them how it's done.
That being said, stick around and both:
1) Ask what you want to achieve
2) If you are in a position to, help others with what they seek to achieve.
