I've had a few requests to add shoutout into earlier created skins.
I added the graphic into the mainArt.png to get the job done, but I think it would be better to add the icon for shoutout into icons.png
a sensible change would be a new thing
sysicon="shoutout"
however, that still has me questioning how to get from customicons into icon.
Maybe it's possible now but I'm not seeing how to join the dots.

You mean how to call the icon ?
Something like this?
Something like this?
<define class="bt_TB_Exit" action="close" width="40" height="30" placeholders="radius=3">
<up radius="[RADIUS]" color="col_bt_up"/>
<over radius="[RADIUS]" color="darkred"/>
<down radius="[RADIUS]" color="red"/>
<icon sysicon="close" width="28" height="28" color="col_bt_txt_up" colorover="col_bt_txt_sel"/>
</define>

No not quite,
That's calling sysicon by name, I want to call graphic from icons.png by xy co-ords
Currently as far as I can tell giving x & y in a <icon> will reference mainArt.png for the location. I'd think that something like this would be better
<icon file="icons.png" x="65" y="129">
or even that a icon call with x y references the icon file in use, instead of mainArt.png like
<icon useicons="true" x="65" y="129">
that way you're not changing mainArt.png

Wouldn't it be better to have these icons embedded in the exe file? That way it's not necessary to involve modfying an external png, it's just a call from the skin code?

They are [default] in the exe, this is customicons and getting them into <icon> by co-ords

Don't know if this is the question being asked.
My method of adding the Shoutout icon to the modified skin was to:
1) Add a button on the skin, where there was space on the skin.
2) add the following <icon/> element to that button (lifted from the new default skin), to display the shoutout icon.
where the x="301" y="149" reference the "shoutout" icon's location, on the NEW gfx-pro.png file.
