Hi all, i'm picking up after 10 years not haveing played DJ again and i got really confused on the POI and analyzing. I excpected when analyzing VDJ would also create cue points for me (Start, 1st drop, ending, SOS loop etrc...) but i can't seem to get proper response. Must be me for sure...
What I want is my pads "HOtcues" to have the cuepoints. I read a lot about it now being automix but that options does not fill my pads to use them and neither can i find these created automix points. So basically how can i let VirtualDJ create the hotcue points and use the pads to trigger them...? I know i can do it manually but i like some batch solution. Any tips or guidance?
Thanks in advance. Copilot seems to mix responses from the last 20 versions :-)
(PS: I use LexiconDJ which generates and exports cuepoints to VDJ if i want but VirtualDJ should be better at it). When exporting from LexiconDJ the cuepoints are exactly where i expect them on the pads HiotCues.

No, VirtualDJ does not automatically create hotcues for you, nor it ever did. Nor most users would want/need that, as most of them would place their hotcues in different places, with different logic than the others.
VirtualDJ does create a few POIs that it uses for the Automix function. Those points are hidden by default, unless "Show all" is selected on POI editor.
However those POIs are not usually suitable to be used as (or converted to) hotcues.
Edit:
As a simple example, with your suggested logic (and the way MIK works) hotcue 1 would always be the start of the song.
Personally as a user (and that goes back to the late 90s when at best we only had 3 hotcues per song) I prefer to place hotcue 1 to the place where it's most likely to start a song in order to mix it. This means that most of the time my "hotcue 1" is NOT at the start of the song, but somewhere else entirely. Given the fact that autocue in VirtualDJ can also load a new song directly to hotcue 1, it makes this a no brainer for me.
Of course others have different preferences / different needs.
I have a friend that I scripted a few buttons for him, that he likes to place his 4 first hotcues at 64 or 32 beats intervals from the start of a song.
That makes no sense for me, but it makes absolute sense for him.
That's why "automatically created hotcues" are not really a thing, nor many users want/ask for this.
Finally IMHO (and that's a personal opinion) it increases the risk of more boring mixes.
If all "lazy" DJ's just use the hotcues an algo detects for them, their mixes will sound more the same..
It's bad already with all those Tik Tok videos where a specific mix of two songs becomes trendy and then every other DJ in the platform will have to do the same.. Let's not make it even more worse..
(But that's just me)

Thanks. Your response makes sense but just to b sure, i'd like auto created hotcues to more easily adjust them for specific songs (which i now do with LexiconDJ and then export them to VDJ). I like th eidea of just adding 1 hot cue at the point i most likely bring in the song in a mix... Good point!
