Topic: Rating with emoji
Hello
I would like to know if it is possible to create an add-on in order to have a notation with emojis, same in Serato, and thus have a faster reading of the classifications of the songs in the evening, according to their energies or any other types of characters of my choice.
It would be great if users had access to this kind of more visual ranking, in addition to star ratings.
So I'm asking the community if it's possible to create this.
Thank you in advance for your answers

Use another tag for it (e.g. Grouping).

Tbh imo that addition to Serato only complicates matters - it makes any Smart Playlists/Filter Folder's logic harder too make because you can only do exact matches (>,< and their derivatives have no direct counterpart unless you place restrictions on how you use them to make >,< comparisions possible through string comparisons), and it is not a standard tag/is only specific to Serato, so you can't export it/save it outside of Serato without extra effort.

My honest opinion, outside Atomix:
Because Serato decided to ensh*t*f*cate it's browser, it doesn't mean the rest programs should follow..

When your "major" browser update is the use of emojis, then it should ring a bell..

Other than that:
The biggest challenge with ANY rating system, whether it supports emojis or not, and whether it allows for 5 or 55 stars rating, is MAINTAINING it. Not only that, but it should also reflect your own taste and standards.
A 5 stars song for me, may be a 2 stars song for you and vice versa.
This means that you can't just get a collection of "rated" songs and expect them to work for you..
As one dear friend says.. Some like Coke, some like Pepsi. We all have different tastes, and RATING in particular is subjective.
Now, if you are willing to put in place a well thought rating system and maintain it throughout your entire music collection, it will require a huge amount of man hours.
And if you're willing to commit to that amount of time, then I'm sure you can find a nice way to visualize it without emojis, even by using just a simple text field.
You should probably use combos however, of other fields and data (the power of filters)
Instead of having blue, red and yellow stars, you could use the color column and the stars column as a combo. Or you could use another text filed in combination with the existing stars.
There are plenty of solutions available that don't require gimmick solutions, and could become much more powerful with some brainstorming, AS LONG AS you are willing to commit to the time it takes to MAINTAIN the thing!

PS / Disclaimer:
This is just my personal take on the subject, outside of Atomix.
Make whatever you want from this, but my points of view here do not represent any official Atomix position.
Thank you!

That gets a thumbs up from me 👍

It's just a gimmick. If the track is happy then instead of a smiley face, write #happy. Job done.

Thank you for your answers and your points of view, which bring me different visions.
So even if I wanted, for faster visualization, I could add tags of my choice in User 1 or 2 with a # and symbols if I wanted.
But it's actually not practical to do a search with emoji that don't appear on the keyboard.

Also keep in mind that #hashtags on user 1 and/or user 2 field(s) can be used as quick filters on the browser itself!

Even the #tags in the Comments are easy to use and filter.
