Just curious if anyone has used the iPad app, MIDI Designer with VirtualDJ?

FYI, I've been a beta tester for maybe 10 years. Stopped using for the last 2-3 years, then started using it again and beta testing.

You wouldn't bother, the vdj remote app does exactly that and more.

Hi.
The touch screen midi community is very innovative & IOS has the best applications.Ive been a contributor & wrote guides & templates for Touchosc & Chameleon . Virtualdj Is so versatile but the tiers for midi usage is controversial , polarasing & makes it difficult to showcase or promote the cool stuff to a wider audience or grow a scene.eg
Any third party touch screen midi application needs an ad hoc connection. Eg virtual midi cables like Bomes or network midi ( real time protocol) RTP. However Virtualdj requires the user purchase the pro version for midi usage. https://virtualdj.com/forums/259671/General_Discussion/Licensing___purchasing_needs_clarfication_for_customizable__software___hardware_.html
Virtual dj can be scripted & used as a daw , a studio production workstation, an advanced sampler. It can be used for cues for stage & movies. https://virtualdj.com/forums/255677/Wishes_and_new_features/Extended_STEMS_for_Producers_-_more_stem_channels.html
It can do much more when combined with touch screen midi applications. But the pricing for midi usage or peripherals which may not even have the higher resolution of signed controllers needs reevaluating.

Re : Touch screen midi.

This is a hands free recording template I created with touchOSC with local messages for live looping . Midi notes are inserted in the timeline of the daw to act as a cue point. Recording is enabled disabled etc when the play head passes the cue marker.
This is a unlisted video for refinng a sampling workflow which I shared with a developer.

Many dedicated samplers have a workflow named lazy chop where the audio is manually sliced as it plays. But a remixer or producer etc can have hundreds of audio slices which exceed 0 -127 midi notes , 128 pads or 128 keys on peripherals.
Lazy chop is easy to replicate in virtual dj. But it can be refined with a navigation tab which eliminates the 1-1 mapping relationship & house keeping issues. The sampler can now have unlimited pads & slices . The user can manually control the sequencing & sketch ideas with just two navigation pads.
Virtual dj is so adaptable & samplers are decades behind . I'm grateful to the Community & contributors here. But it's hard to develop a scene in other realms & showcase it's uses & advantages beyond djing when the entry point to access midi deters many.

That will never EVER change. Like EVER, so don't hold your breath.
You know what full custom midi means, what loopholes in introduces, full price for professional usage is how it has to be priced.
