i have my "check for updates" paused due to vdj not being recognized by some. when do i consider updating windows or don't I? i have disabled midi 2.0 on all laptops

I'd suggest that if you disabled MIDI 2.0 back when the fix actually worked, and you've had updates paused since then, leave it as is for now.
MS are still trickling out updates/fixes into next month and beyond, so it's not over yet.
