Topic: virtual dj freezing
Hi everyone,

I'm running into an issue with VirtualDJ on what should be a mid-to-high end laptop.
Asus Tuf Gaming A16
GeForce RTX 4050
16 GB Ram
512 SSD
System: Windows 11, 25H2
Nvidia RTX 4050 with 4GB dedicated VRAM.
VirtualDJ version: v2026 build 9295
Power settings: Windows set to High Performance, and I've applied the usual Nvidia Control Panel optimizations for VirtualDJ.

In VirtualDJ, all performance options are enabled. Stems are disabled.

Issue: Every so often during a set, VirtualDJ freezes for 5-10 seconds. Audio keeps playing, but the UI is completely unresponsive. This doesn't happen with any other software I've tested.

Additional info: Video Max Memory is set to 5920. I didn't change this — it was the default value. In Settings > Video Driver I forced it to use the Nvidia GPU, and in Skin I set it to High Power. That helped reduce the frequency, but the freezes still occur.

Has anyone seen this before or know what could be causing it? Thanks in advance.

Videomaxmemory should not be that high. Not sure why it would get this default. Can you try changing it to 100 to see if it makes a difference?

Open task manager, go to startup and disable everything except essentials...switch of the Bluetooth. Download latency mon and run it see which driver/software is causing lag spikes. I had to Download the nvidia driver, then NVcleaninstall, remove all the bloatware and the telemetry stuff from the nvidia driver, installed it and all lag issues stopped. Using Aorus i7 13650HX, RTX4060 8Gb,16gb ddr5, 2 tb storage. I found the bluetooth on mine was not playing nice.....

I game also, so do this to speed up games too on my gaming PC. There are plenty of online guides how to use NVcleaninstall.

Also try to disable core parking (google it) as this has a massive impact on latency. Also select a higher power plan in the control panel power settings.

Also the Asus bloatware that comes with the machine should be uninstalled.
