Export to CDJ at this moment complies 100% with what Pioneer/AlphaTheta wants/asks in order to be "One Library" certified.
Therefore, the issue must be on how Engine reads that data.

OK, thanks George.
I notice there are two different exports, CDJ2000 and CDJ2000nexus. I tried the CDJ2000 one and it didn't work.
I'll raise a support ticket with Denon then.

The different options are there only for the media files conversions.
I mean on what file type should VirtualDJ convert files unsupported by the CDJs
Different CDJs have different file types support.
Other than that, the export is the same no matter what you choose there.

Looks like Engine OS 4.6 and Serato support is dropping today!

Does that mean you'll be going to........the dark side? 🤣

Ermmm it's a no from me.

Lol if only they focused on the actual software experience than all these new controllers...

It’s tempting . Very tempting . It could be a double dark side because possibly DJAY will pop up next .
I actually packed mine up in the box waiting for this moment . But I’ll try to have patience a little while longer .

The Engine side does remarkably well though if you're willing to take the time to prep the music and learn how it works.

I would say the Omnisource take is very interesting at first glance for using various music sources.
Things that were obvious from the RANE DJ video:
One major thing that wasn't obvious with me is interplay with things like sync between sources and whether or not it is possible on that device.
That is a question that came up a few times here for standalone devices like the XDJ-XZ. If that is supported then that's pretty much a first for standalone (and prob indicates a major difference in protocol/potentially more detailed with other software and Engine DJ itself), since before the device basically handed over control of the deck to the software completely (sync between different sources wasn't possible).
Things that were obvious from the RANE DJ video:
- It eliminates the Physical source selector switch in favor of the screen for selecting different sources (more streamlined).
- Doesn't need a restart.
- May have better integration with software sources
One demo I saw showed the playlist banks being able to store a shortcut to crates
Hardware vs software effects usage seems more streamlined to the screen as well (hopefully no short audio dropout as with DJM-S models)

I don't think the different sources can be synced from what I've seen. There's no combined library between sources either. But being able to use the hardware effects on the VDJ output will be great as it totally streamlines the use of the controller.

You cannot sync between serato and engine sources, u can sync from engine sources and any streaming source, you also cannot initiate a search of tracks in your serato library from the system one unit directly, searches of tracks in your serato library have to be initiated inside serato on the laptop, u can view your serato crates directly on the system one screen, just can’t start a search..if there’s a way to do this then I must not have looked hard enough. U do have access to all hardware, fader, and touch fx regardless of sources used. Have had the unit since it launched Jan 20th and have done numerous gigs with it. Used it this past weekend with serato attached in case. Mainly for realtime stem processing also a bug I’ve noticed is occasionally you cannot load a track from serato library onto a deck even if it’s not playing from the unit itself, have to click inside serato and load it from the laptop after that, loading on the system one from serato library functions again.

This makes sense (fits how other standalone behaviour like in AlphaTheta land is). The source switcher is just that - a fancier way to select where the music is coming from, and software probably just sends that to the channel along with info for the track for display purposes.
Engine and onboard streaming sources being sync-able makes sense too - Engine is the source running all of those.
This is a bit weird - I thought onboard search trigger was a thing on Denon Prime Series devices (could be wrong):

Same comment as above - software just supplies the sound to the channel and BPM info, onboard effects just use that to do its job.
We just have to wait and see what the devs here do with the device 🤷🏾♂️

The Serato search limitation was (is) exactly the same on earlier units.
When Serato became available for the Prime 4 I gave it a try and found I was unable to search from the controller. I thought it was ridiculous then, and never used Serato with my Prime 4 again. 🤷♂️
