Topic: Rane Four mapping question
I am wanting to remap the "sampler level" knob. in default state this is not something i use. In the mapping gui i do not see an obvious choice for this knob. On my old SX2 and SX3 the fader/knob was labeled "sampler volume" and that is what also showed up in the mapping. Can anyone point me to the right choice?

  1. The Rane Four is a controller with an external mixer setup.
    This means most likely the sampler knob has dedicated functionality for that control that can't be bypassed.
  2. No key for the sampler knob in the controller mapper window most likely means it doesn't send MIDI

    You can ask the Devs or read the specification manual for the device to confirm this


All this is to say that you probably don't want to use that control for your mapping purposes.

The DDJ-SX2 has an internal mixer setup (all mixing is done by the software and the end result is sent to the controller's soundcsrd for output), which means the sampler knob sends MIDI and could be remapped without problem.
The DDJ SX3 has an extwrnal mixer setup, so even if the conteol sent MIDI, there was hardware based functionality that was unavoidable, so the situation would be the same as the Rane Four.
 
It sends midi but has a fixed hardware function, it's there in the list if you twist it.
