Using notebook and desktop my method for synchronization is
the use of one fixed drive letter (e.g. m:\) for all audio files
and also for all software including settings.
1. The fixed drive letter for local HDD/SDD, for USB drives, for NAS
or local cloud sync locations can be realized with the free tool USBDLM
and with commands "subst" or with "net use".
2. Since I work on notebook and desktop in parallel
(e.g. stems calculation on the faster desktop) it is important to define,
which data is source (master) and which data is target (slave).
For VDJ software including settings, this can be the notebook
and for audio files and stems, this can be the desktop.
3. The directory of software settings are normally only on the system drive (c:\).
With symbolic links (e.g. free tool LinkShellExtension) it is easy to redirect this
data also to another (local, portable, subst) drive.
I recommend to not use a network drive but a reliable internal or USB disk.
4. Depending on definition of point 2, I use FreefileSync with different jobs
either from left to right or right to left or also two way.
This method does work for VirtualDJ, RekordBox, MusicBee, Mp3Tags ...
really nice. But you have to know and carefully control, what you do!
Backup is always recommended of course
(I can recommend reverse incremental backups).
