Can the VDJ programmers pickup where Don left off and bring out a 64bit version of the TellyMedia & TellyVisual plugins? The existing slideshow plugin just sucks tbh.

Thanks

It "sucks"? Not enough information.

What exactly do you need from the slideshow plugin (or VDJ) so that it doesn't "suck"?

Hi, yes, the slideshow plugin in VDJ is very limited in it's scope. The super small controller is hard to see as well. You have to have better than perfect eyesight to read the damn thing.

Myself and many others like the expanded features of Tellymedia and it's ease of use. It's also touchscreen friendly as the buttons are larger, as are the banks to select images etc.
Many features: Banks, stretch, aspect, no scale, replay, etc etc

I hope the VDJ engineers see this post and act on it for future updates.

So I had to downgrade and install the 2020 32bit version of VDJ to install the 32 bit Tellymedia plugin.

Let's hope in 2024, the developers put out a proper graphics plugin for all the VDJ's.

It's been a year and still no news about a good app to manage videos, photos and more
I reopen the discussion with the permission of the mods of this forum

or is VDJ 2025 purely a 64-bit version only?

Indeed, VDJ 2025 is only 64 bit.

Support for the 32 bit version has ended, meaning there will be no more updates.
You should install the 64 bit version.

Some users still use the 32-bit version
because we have tellymedia, a third-party application that unfortunately was never finished for 64-bit...
This application is very useful for DJs like me... weddings... birthdays... business and more
Is there any point in developing something like that?
I'm not asking for 32-bit to continue being supported.
A tool like tellymedia but for 64-bit would be interesting.
Thank you very much

I guess it depends how much of a demand there is for such a plugin. I tried it probably 10 years ago but the whole thing was just overwhelming and not very user friendly from what I can remember.

Denon are about to release stems as a paid for addon (on most of their gear) which is not unusual nowadays so would ex TV/TM users be willing to pay a fee or subscription to have it?

Maybe it could be handled by the current video skins and just expanding how they interface?

Tellymedia does is wonderful
I still use it today with the 32-bit version
It's a shame that we don't know anything about Don, its developer...the 64-bit version was left incomplete

hello kradcliffe.....If the plugin is well done I would pay for it
I was part of Don's beta tester team and spent many hours testing basic functions...especially running different types of video, photo formats, etc. and paying for the application for those users who did it I think was not a problem
We paid 300 for virtual to pay for a real application that works if it is not a proprietary price I think it is fine

Krad... not sure about overwhelming cause i took to it like a duck to water, and the 'Pro" version had a bit more capability than the stock free version available.
there were a lot of us who were die-hard believers and i was one of them and counted Don as a friend. Yes, he had his quirks, and yes was often at odds with the dev's over things, but it was his baby and he was working on it to the point it wasn't safe for him.

anyway, there's far too much that the plugins do to be handled by a video skin - it would take a really long while to break down what each and every thing did (including the ones above my head/use needs) and even then i don't know that i could get ALL of it down and right. a video skin? more like a whole new plugin but without the clunkyness of the stock plugins and all in one spot instead of having to open each aspect of what they do individually

I don't know why everyone is focused on stems now. And we VDJs... need good tools to do our job.
I don't want to be repetitive, but tellymedia is an essential tool for those of us who work with video... it gives a unique freedom since you are not tied to milkdrop or shaders... I am just a DJ... I don't know anything about programming or development... codes or anything.
But I firmly believe that the team should put someone to work on it... I say this with all the respect that the development team deserves.

hello wildcountryclub I support each of your words, it is exactly as you say
It's a shame that Don is not available... besides being a great person, he was also very committed to his work.
It is true that he fought with the developers, but I think that his knowledge gave him the right to question certain things that he did not see as correct.

Here are some photos of the good options that the application has. As you can see, it has a capacity of up to 72 banks to put all kinds of images, including long clips, photos, and more.
In the carousel section, you can upload folders with hundreds of images and clips (it's great) and the application will manage them without problems.....it also connects with virtual dj so that when you make transitions, it takes them without any problem....it has a camera section (I've never used it)
Well, and more things that I hardly ever use.

The media banks are pretty much the same as using the sampler then?

And the carousel looks similar to Slideshow, only that you can select multiple folders at the same time?

Hi Adion...it's similar, it's not the same....Have you ever analyzed it? Have you put it to work and seen its qualities in depth?

OK so what needs to be added to VDJ?

What functionality is missing in either the sampler, the slideshow, the text plugin and so on?

Dont forget the Connections that Don provided as Pushbullet, Twilio,Twitter and IMU or iWall.
I used Pushbullet to get my guests message on the screen as rolling texts or photos.
Really missing that feature.
Is there anyone who have been in contact with Don lately?, if so let him know he is missed from a lot of users !

Please understand that I am a die-hard VDJ user, love the software, and wouldn't use anything else and I'm truly not trying to be contentious about this (Lord knows Don could be...) but from what you guys are asking I'm wondering if you've ever really dug into everything that the plugins do.

The controls for a marquee panel alone are far more in depth for TellyVisuals than what the native text plugin has, and there are six panels there for Image, Color, Border, Font, Content Area, and the actual Marquee Options with scrolling options, ability to add text AND images AND emojiis, move them up and down,

a 'basic' Text panel? it still has far more than what the native Text plugin can do

As for TellyMedia's Media bank and Carousel, unless there are a LOT of hidden things the Sampler can do then no, it is not the same. The Sampler does have a few things different over Media Bank or Carousel is the alpha channel picker, playing synched to the audio, and picking between audio or video in the editor.
but that's kinda how it should be because it's part of the software. TellyMedia was designed as an enhancement and to give that extra so that there was more customer engagemnt - flat out eye candy with the right imagination. TellyMedia just has Green and Blue chromakey, and their alpha controls, but it was enough for it's purposes back when it was first designed. Don and I had discussed it but he was iffy about it at the time - but this was back before VDJ 8 had first dropped and don't think he ever got that far with it.

as for easy of use - resize, reposition, re-order layouts on the fly without having to save and go back and restart the sample playing, or switch between plugins...

which bring me around to the camera controls. different to be sure.

the whole point in that ramble i suppose is that the plugins serve a purpose - to give that extra for our customers for more engagement, wow factor, eye candy, and getting that something extra that isn't available with stock plugins.
example:
using TellyVisuals i was able to add a customer's smiling drunken face following their birthday shoutout on screen all night long for all his friends to see. and they used their phones to catch it and put that on social media... Whle Tellymedia was playing the club logo in a rotating box (built in - no editing for animation required)... FREE advertising for us and a very happy customer and their friends.

Thanks again for explaining it because maybe I couldn't do it the right way

For text I agree it still has a lot more options than vdj currently offers.

For the media player and carousel I still don't see what exactly is missing though.

For the camera plugin, perhaps try it again in a later version of vdj. There should be a more button opening a window for multi camera selection and transparency options, so also don't see too much missing?
