Topic: v8 Remote skins - Page: 4
Is it possible change the remote app by our own to highlite the focus on the track id lines (just like the normale browser on pc).

The remote app doesnt show this, so you have to watch on your pc instead of your remote screen when using the encoder on you midi device.

Remote skin variants: Default shows 'skin:variation' in VDJ Controllers->Phone/Table info (right click on connected devices), but custom/renamed zips only show base skin name, no variation – is this expected?

Sorry for long post

Hello everyone,
I've been experimenting a lot with custom remote skins in VirtualDJ (current version v2026 b9004), focusing on multiple variants in one zip for auto-switching on device orientation (tablet/phone, landscape/portrait), mimic the default skin

I noticed something interesting about the default remote skin behavior vs. customs:

Default skin works either unpacked folder or .zip and in Controllers>Phone/Tablet right click shows "Skin: Default:16x10T", so skin name and variation.

I zipped Default.zip and I must zip WITHOUT a folder, just file (otherwise remote skin is not even shown in the list) and still I can see skin: name:variation

here the thing: If I rename default.zip to "myskin.zip" everything works as before, but I can't see anymore the variation, only skin: skinname

the same for any custom skin (and any skin remote must be .zip file - actually I found the might work also .zip with a folder, but seems standard is without folder)

I tried to name file exactly as default example, also myskin_16x10T.xml but still variation never showed

Also I notice that even with default, it is showed only 1 variation like 16x10T even if I rotate the tablet and it's actually loaded another variation (9x10T) > I tested with custom text button or text zone or colors to be sure which file was loaded each time I rotate.

I also moved the remote skin to standard skin folder and here, if I have variation, I see 2 skins. and this works with expanded folder (named "edit") or with .zip, like all the normal standard VDJ skip (variation are listed separately in this case)

Is this a known/intentional behavior? I.e., only the true "default" remote skin (exact name/folder) gets the full variant display in device info, while customs hide it even if variants work

It would be super useful for debugging to see the loaded variant explicitly on customs too. Anyone else seen this, or know a workaround ?
Thanks for any insights — this thread has been gold for remote skin tips!
