Topic: Support for additional screens
in the last years more and more additional small screens with half screen height are appearing.
One of the newest additions is this:

It would be a total gamechanger if Virtual DJ would add support for such screens with an additional skin, in a way like the screens of the expensive controller are supported.

Currently no other software supports this, so this will be a new exclusive feature.
Virtual DJ User could upgrade there controller to a premium one, for 200-300€/$.

I‘m aware that not all available screens could probably be supported, but if you pick few decent ones, this would be sufficient.

the skin engine can already do that, as far as vdj is concerned it's just another monitor so you can skin a window element.
Somebody asked me about skinning for something like it and then they vanished before replying to say exactly what they wanted, so I didn't bother start.

I'm using a custom skin and Babis (djdad) added an extra resizable video window option for me so I guess this can be added to any skin with some code.

So I can have the VDJ interface on my laptop screen, video out on my display monitor and a resizeable extra video window for an additional screen if needed.

Actually yeah, I've a os2l/midi cue skin window that could qualify as a sub screen skin if lamping tracks is your thing.
Stuff for radio guys, separate sampler windows, I've made a few.
I guess resolution might come into play because I designed for 1920*1080, I guess sub screens might look better with an ultra wide aspect ratio.

Are there some limitations with the existing solution?
I meant I read in the past, that there can not be two separate library lists? (when you add a second, they are synced and display the same)

But ok, I probably would not necessarily need this.
I would be more than happy to have a deck display with video on the left and the right and the output video in the middle

Best of the multi screen skins, and it is a game changer, is Controller" by DennYo...

Hello everyone,

I am pretty interested to follow up on the subject of individual skin for each screen in a multiple screens setup.
I have my laptop with its monitor and a second monitor that is 9' touch

When i launch VDJ i will use the main skin, to sort think out and all, and on the second "mini" monitor i have a second skin more like what you have on the screen of different controller like the Prime 4, SCLive 4 OR Kontrol S8.
So that when i close my laptop i can focus on my controler and the mini monitor to get rid of the bigger one and save energy.

Is this something doable ?

Something like this : https://imgur.com/6XBG5z6 (needed two laptop for this example)

Yes it's absolutely doable. However you may need to get your hands a little dirty on skinning.

PS: You don't need a second laptop. A second screen via USB C / DP is a very nice way to do it.

I would have though (and somehow should i post it in devellopement) that VirtualDj can manage MSWindows (in this case) or MacOs settings regarding multiple monitors to only apply one skin on each monitor.
I can put my hand on skinning but this will block me (and other users) on using the modified skin only.

Having this feature is a banger for VDJ, as, from my poi, it's one of its purposes to avoid having to pay costly gears to have a touch screen and have all best functions VDJ have to offer.

Thank you for your answer.

VirtualDJ handles multiple monitors and multiple wiindows just fine.
However, the default VirtualDJ skin has been designed for "single" monitor usage as that's what 99.999999999% of users use.
You can not load multiple skins (one per screen) at this point.
However there are custom skins that support "floating windows" that you can drag around and "assign" at any monitor your OS is capable of using.
So, you can use one custom skin, or if you wish (depending on your needs) to create your own / edit an existing one.

One other possibility (if you are going to "close the laptop screen" anyway) is to clone the 2 displays under your OS settings.
In this case both screens will show the same (as they are cloned) but it shouldn't matter as you're going to use only one of them anyways. Therefore you can load "any" single monitor/window skin and be done with it.

Thank you @PhantomDeejay

I use the last proposed workaround for now and switch back when needed.

MacOS: Is there a possibility to move a floating window to a specific screen and set the window size?

I know I can do it manually, but this is somehow tricky, as the mouse cursor starts jumping when on the additional (3rd) screen.
I want to add an option ‚place Screen‘ to my menu and it should automatically put in in place.

The Reloop Touch acts as a secondary monitor as well. If you intend your controller to be both hid and screen, you can probably define the skin to use and the parameters of the secondary window in the controller definition. (Would have to check again, but I think the Reloop touch screen is simply detected by its resolution)
